Kaiser said nine people participated in the previous competition in Noblesville on Nov. 9. Four of them were finalists. According to Kaiser, junior Bobby Greaser placed second in the competition category Broadcasting (BR), while senior Chelsea Yedinak placed third and senior Claudia Benz tenth in the same category. Kaiser said freshman Michael Wang placed second in Impromptu Speaking (IMP).

“It was really exciting. I was really proud of them, and we got a lot of good feedback from the judges,” she said. “We’re hopefully going to use that feedback to improve for the next meet.”

According to Elaina Xiong, veteran speech team member and senior, speech team did not meet regularly in previous years. However, Kaiser said this year the club has been practicing regularly, particularly the newer members.

Xiong said her favorite event is Dramatic Interpretation (DI), but “it requires a lot of preparation, and I don’t have time for it because of college (applications).”

While Xiong did not attend the Noblesville meet, she said she attended an earlier competition at Fishers.
