Orchestras prepare for upcoming events and concerts

Orchestras+prepare+for+upcoming+events+and+concerts

According to Maggie Hite, one of the three orchestra directors, the fall concert last week was a success, although each orchestra still has much to prepare for. The winter concert is scheduled for Dec. 10, and Philharmonic rehearsals will begin on Monday, Oct. 26. In addition, Festival Orchestra will be traveling to Ball State University on Nov. 9 to participate in the Indiana American String Teachers Association Orchestra Invitational, where they will perform on stage at Sursa Hall and participate in a clinic with a renowned conductor.

“Symphony Orchestra will also continue working on learning the entire Beethoven Symphony No.5, which will be recorded onto a CD,” Hite said.

Sandhya Akella, sophomore and Festival Orchestra member, said she thinks the orchestra did really well on the fall concert, considering they had just finished the main piece the day of the concert.

“It was a lot of fun having the audience clap along,” Akella said. She also said she looks forward to attending the Ball State trip.

May Zhang, sophomore and Symphony Orchestra member, also looks forward to the upcoming winter concert.

“It’s gonna be pretty cool playing the entire Symphony No.5 after working on it for so long,” Zhang said.
