On Oct. 1, the Ambassadors and all of the other choir groups will perform in their first big concert of the year. According to director Lamonte Kuskye, the concert will be at the Dale E. Graham Auditorium at 7 p.m.

“(Ambassadors) is a whole new group this year,” Kuskye said. “We have 32 new members and only 10 returning Ambassadors, It’s exciting to see this new group of singers work together.”

Kuskye said that in recent years, he has started a policy of only allowing juniors and senior into the Ambassadors.

“To me, three years is just too long to be in Ambassadors and I also believe that everyone should experience the other groups that we have to offer,” Kuskye said.

Lauren Carpenter, Ambassador member and senior, said that this is her first year being an Ambassador.

“It’s really fun (to be in Ambassadors). I was in Accents before (this year) and the Ambassadors is a little bit different in what is expected of us,” Carpenter said. “We are expected to know what we are doing; the director doesn’t help us on the little things—details, we are expected to know it already.”

Carpenter said that this year the songs that the Ambassadors are singing a bit more stylized.

Carpenter said, “Some of them are kind of ‘jazzy’ and like, for example, the first song that we learned this year was in French, which is a bit different.”
