WARNING: ONLY READ THIS BLOG POST IF YOU HAVE FINISHED THE CAMPAIGN MODE ON CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS
Now that I’ve gotten your attention, I have some disturbing news. Alex Mason, the guy you play as in Black Ops, was the real assassin of John F. Kennedy. Those who think it was that Lee Harvey Oswald fellow, is wrong. If you did not understand the ending cinematic in the game (I didn’t understand it at first either), you need to read the following summary I found on Call of Duty Wiki.
- It is heavily implied that Alex Mason killed John F. Kennedy. When Mason personally meets with him in the Pentagon, he hallucinates himself pointing a pistol at the President. Also, when he wanders around in the mission Revelations, he says the words “Kennedy…John…Fitzgerald!” and “Oswald…compromised!”. During the ending cutscene, there is archival footage of President and Mrs. Kennedy arriving in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963, the day of the assassination, and Mason can be seen in the crowd greeting Kennedy, prior to his assassination during the motorcade; he was most likely programmed by Dragovich to shoot Kennedy, However, it would be quite hard and unnessecary to watch the President disembark from Air Force One and meet with the crowds, the rush all the way to the Plaza miles away to shoot him, this leads some players to believe Mason was there trying to protect Kennedy, and failed. Further evidence to the therory that Mason was the assassin comes when he yells at Dragovich, “You tried to make me kill my president!”, Dragovich then replies with a sinister smile, “Tried?” During the ending cutscene, Mason states the caliber of the bullet that killed Kennedy, which was a 6.5mm (which also was [in real life] the caliber of the bullet fired from the Carcano rifle, allegedly used in the assassination by Lee Harvey Oswald), further suggesting that Mason was the assassin, or was cooperating with Oswald. Also, as said in Mason’s biography, he is an excellent sniper, which could also mean that Mason delivered the fatal shot to Kennedy’s head. Also, in the Crash Site mission, the song playing at the boat scene is “Sympathy for the Devil” by The Rolling Stones. A part of this song says: “I shouted out: Who killed the Kennedys? Well after all, it was you and me!” This might be a slight reference to Mason’s involvement in the Kennedy Assassination.
