Kare Club prepares for Free Rice fundraiser

Kare club members are preparing for the spring Free Rice fundraiser which is coming up in a few weeks. The members have been making final decisions and preparations for the fundraiser.

Co-president and junior Monica McKary said, “We have been working on our own time to make preparations even though no meeting has been scheduled.

The fundraiser for Kare Club is a competition between each of the SRTs to see which SRT can answer the most Free Rice questions correct online. Cool River Pizza donates a pizza party to the winning SRT.

The members of the club have also been thinking about merging clubs with Rotary Interact to create a bigger fundraiser for next year. Rotary Interact has their own fundraiser this year and next year might be a good time to merge clubs.

The fundraiser this spring excites the members including sponsor Susie Deneen. She has participated in past years and looks forward to the event.

Deneen said, “Everyone enjoys the fundraiser because it’s fun to help third-world countries in need.” By Matt Wehner
