Junior Charlie Browning was selected from thousands of applicants as the sweepstakes winner in the “Sports Story” category in the 2011 International Writing/Photo Contest sponsored by the American Society of News Editors (ASNE) and Quill & Scroll. To see Browning’s winning story, click here.
A total of 277 individual students were selected as winners, earning Gold Keys, out of a pool of 3,248 entries in 12 different categories. To see a list of all HiLite students earning Gold Keys this year, click here.
In each of the 12 categories, judges selected a single sweepstakes winner. Out of the 340 entries in the “Sports Story” category, only 20 were selected as Gold Key winners and only one as sweepstakes winner.
