Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation to host Tour de Carmel on Sept. 10

by Sarah Moxham

Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation will host its eighth annual Tour de Carmel on Sept. 10 from 7:30 a.m. to noon. Cost is $8 per rider, but the cost increases to $10 per rider when riders register on the day of the race. The number of participants is expected to between 800 and 1,000 people.

“It’s a fun and energetic atmosphere. There are families with kids and people that come and just want to ride,” activites manager Lindsay Labas said.

To help make the race a success, 50 to 100 volunteers signed up to help at the event. Though this number of volunteers seems large, it is on target for what the CCPR is expecting.

“Carmel students get involved in mass,” Ben Boodt, lifeguard at the Monon Center and senior, said.

Students interested in riding in the Tour de Carmel can go to www.carmelclayparks.com for more information.
