Color guard preparing for ISSMA contest on Oct. 1

Members of the color guard are preparing the ISSMA district contest, which will take place on Oct 1. at Lawrence Central High School. According to Sally Ware, senior and returning member, the color guard is well prepared for the competition.

“I feel like our guard will do very well this year. We always have a strong guard because our instructors are the top in the world,” Ware said.

So far, the color guard has been successful at previous competitions alongside the marching band, with victories at the Lawrence Central and Avon Invitationals. They practice on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings as well as mornings on Gold Days.

Paige Roberts, member of the color guard and junior, also said she anticipates a good year for the group.

“We had a rough start with so many new members this year, but all of the girls are working really hard and it is starting to show,” Roberts said via email. “By the end of the season I think we are going to be great.”
