Foreign exchange students anticipate holidays with host families

by MacKenzie Cole

Foreign exchange students will spend the holidays this winter with their host families, away from home.

“What ever their host families do for the holidays is what the students do. Most students travel with their host families for what they traditionally do over the holidays,” David Mikesell, sponsor of the foreign exchange program, said.

“I’ve never experienced holidays over in America, except for Halloween and Thanksgiving so far,” exchange student Andreas Estmark said.

By using Skype, a software application and online service that enables voice and video phone calls over the Internet, some exchange students will get to see there families during the holidays, so that they aren’t missing out on anything.

“We try to show them how holiday’s typically work here and let them experience it and make sure it is a good one,” Mikesell said.
