Muslim Student Association to sponsor fundraiser this semester for Syria

The Muslim Student Association plans to sponsor a fundraiser later this semester to help support those caught in the killing and chaos in Syria and to fund the removal of the dictator, Bashar al-Assad.

“He orders to kill people left and right, including children who have done nothing,” Fariha Hossain, club president and junior, said.

There have also been several instances of torture and strategic shootings. According to BBC News, the death toll in Syria due to a brutal crackdown on protesters against the government had reach 4,000 by December of 2011. The UN also convicted Assad of crimes against humanity.

This semester, the Muslim Student Association will continue meeting every Blue Thursday after school in room A232, club sponsor Dora Mulcahy’s room.

Mulcahy said, “The students take this club seriously and are ready to voice their opinion. They are intelligent and resourceful.”
