Hip Hop Club utilizes Facebook page to expand membership

by Helena Ma

According to Mason Yao, Hip Hop Club officer and senior, the Hip Hop Club is using its Facebook page to promote communication and expansion. Via the Facebook page, club members hope to promote not only the dancing aspect, but other foundational elements of hip hop, as well. The club meets every Tuesday after school until 5 p.m. in the main lobby near the Dale E. Graham Auditorium.

“The Facebook group is going amazing. It promotes the club even further,” Yao said. “People check it regularly, and it’s a good way to communicate.”

The Facebook page is titled “CHS Hip Hop Club” and currently has 72 members, according to Yao.

“Everyone’s free to post anything: post videos, post news, post whatever,” he said.

Sponsor Lacey Grabek said she thinks Facebook is a helpful tool for club growth, because it is an easy way to get announcements out to as many people as possible and it will open the door for more events.

Yao said, “Using Facebook really preserves that underground feel, except we’re legit.”
