To prepare for Dance Marathon, Senate is raising awareness for various fundraising events at restaurants, such as Chick-Fil-A and Steak ‘n Shake.
“We raise a lot of money,” Senator and senior Sara Towle said. “Everybody has to eat, so it’s really effective.”
According to Towle, Senators are each required to both attend and promote fundraiser nights.
Additionally, Senate will host the “Neon Rave” event on Feb. 3 to benefit the Melanoma Society. Tickets will be sold for $3 at the door and through student government members.
“The idea stemmed from an event chaired by Terrance to give money for melanoma research in the name of his mother who passed away of it,” Senate sponsor Michelle Foutz said.
According to Towle, the dance will be informal, with students wearing as much neon as possible.
“It’ll be like Homecoming, but less classy and more neon,” Towle said.
