German students look forward to language competition Feb. 25

German students are looking forward to a language competition held at Ball State Univeristy all day on February 25.

“It’s a big competition. There’s usually over 500 people there. You do workshops that get you more involved with the German culture. The competitions can include baking, power point and scrapbook competitions,” Angelika Becker, world language department chair, said.

Caroline Bundy, German student and junior, said, “I’d recommend that students go to this. The competition and workshops allow German students to become more involved in the culture of Germany than they would learn in class.”

“It’s not boring and German students usually get extra credit for going. You get more into the program when you go,” Bundy said.

“It’s not just a competition. You get to go to many different workshops and cultural activities. At the end of the day, you get to have a big German style meal and do a dance at the end,” Becker said. “It’s fun.”
