On Jan. 13, Academic Transition Night will occur for eighth graders and their parents from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., regarding scheduling for their freshmen year. The meeting will begin in the Dale E. Graham Auditorium in which information about course selection, lockers, SRT and graduation requirements will be explained. There will also be ongoing tours of the school and department representatives available for questions and information. In addition, there will be separate meetings regarding the International Baccalaureate program, Special Services information and information for private school students and those new to Carmel Clay Schools. Shuttle buses will also be available from the stadium parking lot.
Amy Skeens-Benton, Freshmen Center Assistant Principal, said the purpose of the meeting is to familiarize eight grade students and their parents with the scheduling process. Skeens-Benton said the Academic Transition Night will be different than the previous years meeting.
“(Unlike last year) Students will not be receiving their course selections at the meeting,” Skeens-Benton said.
