AVID meeting scheduled for third week of October

Students in AVID are tentatively scheduled to meet on the third week of October for the monthly meeting according to AVID Site Coordinator Shannon Woodson. The Senior leaders in the club are currently beginning to plan on the event for the next meeting. Last month, AVID hosted a cookout for the tailgate celebration during Homecoming. It was intended to allow the students to get to know their fellow peers as the first nine weeks is coming to a close.

AVID is open to students who fulfill certain standards in their GPA and standardized test scores. The class concentrates on improving students’ writing, organization, reading, collaboration, and inquiry skills in order to help them establish necessary skills for life

“We focus on these five foundation skill so that they can apply it to their other classes.” Woodson said.
