May 20 is the spring concert for all four concert bands, which consist of Freshmen Concert Band, Wind Symphony III, Wind Symphony II, and Wind Symphony I. A woodwind quintet and marimba quartet will also perform. Since this is the final concert of the year, all four band directors will commemorate the graduating seniors. Christiana Ravenna, Wind Symphony II bassoon player, said she is looking forward to this annual ritual.
“The concert will be pretty decent, but I’m mostly looking forward to it because I’ll be getting my fake yellow carnation and cake,” Ravenna said.
Michael Pote, associate directors of bands, said the performances will be prepared because most of the music was rehearsed for ISSMA contest. State was only a fortnight ago.
“The music is well prepared and it’s also a well-paced concert, so it won’t be too long,” Pote said. He has been a band director for 17 years.
The concert starts with Freshmen Concert Band at 7:30 p.m. in the Dale E. Graham Auditorium.
