A look at the candidates for secretary: Freshman Elections

by studentsection

Nina Sun

Why did you decide to run?
I wanted to get involve more in the school. I just wanted to do something. It’s not just for the title; I really do want to get involve with student government.

What experience have you had?
I was the Service Chair in middle school. I was a member of National Honor Junior Society, and I was the treasurer for Tri-M.

What would you change if you get elected?
I would try to get people more involved at school. I would organize events and plan things that people could do.

What are you participating in now?
I’m not in too much right now. I hope to join more clubs as the year goes on. Hopefully, I’ll do tennis.

Why did you decide to run?
I’ve always been interested in student government. Even in middle school, I was in student government. I think it’s a great way to get to know the school better and get to know the freshmen that I don’t know. Starting at secretary is best because you get to participate in student government, but it’s not at the top, like president, and I think it’s better if you work your way up, while gaining experience. I also want to lead the freshmen by planning events. It’s a great opportunity.

What experience have you had?
I was student body president in middle school and in student council.

What would you change if you get elected?
I wouldn’t really change anything. I think things could be improved, like maybe another cafeteria for the school because lunchtime gets busy. Also, I would like to get students more involved. I believe that there’s a club for everyone and something that interests everyone. Everyone should be part of something, and I think if more people were involved, our school would be more united. Students would probably like school a lot better too.

What are you participating in now?
I’m a swimmer and part of Freshmen Connections, and I hope to join Key Club, NHS in the future, House and HiLite. I’m really interested in student government.
