Juniors in midst of scheduling process for senior year

by Beats

Juniors at CHS met with their counselors on Jan. 12 to put together their schedule for their senior year. One of the many juniors who learned about scheduling is junior Alex Wallace.

Wallace said “Scheduling as a junior is surely different than scheduling as a freshman or sophomore. There’s more classes available and stuff like that.”

Aside from different subjects, the students also get an opportunity to speak with their designated counselor about post graduation plans. Because the counselors talk about graduation plans as well as putting together a schedule for their senior year, the appointment takes approximately half an hour. “Along with the eighth graders, we’re the last to schedule,” Wallace said. “ Although I don’t think that limit’s what classes we can take, just because most freshmen and sophomores don’t take senior level classes.”

However, like the lower classmen, juniors are called to their scheduling appointment via an alphabetical list. Students are sent reminders shortly before their reserved time with the counselor.

Wallace said, “Much like the other students, we’re called according to a schedule. Of course, our scheduling appointments last quite a bit longer.”

Wallace also said that in his opinion, the process seems to work quite well.

“In many ways, the procedure to schedule as a junior is similar to that of previous year,” Wallace said. “It’s just incredible to think that you are scheduling for your final year in high school.” By Keshav Masani <kmasani@hilite.org>
