K.A.R.E. club starts FreeRice project this week

K.A.R.E. club will be starting its FreeRice.com project this week. This fundraiser has been in the works for a long time and now it’s finally ready to be put into action. The online game provides a chance for students here to give back to others by winning points online which then helps provide help for starving people around the world.

“We will explain everything on video announcements,” Magy McKary, club president and junior, said. All the points earned on the online game go towards helping starving people and also help earn the participant’s SRT a pizza party. The class with the most grains of rice at the end of the competition will win a pizza party. Classes can be disqualified if suspected of cheating in any way.

“Anyone interested in helping with this fundraiser may contact Mrs. Deneen or myself,” McKary said.

“I think that this a great way to get kids involved with something that not only rewards them, but that gives back to people in need,” Kaylee Moon, FreeRice participant and freshman, said. “It’s all going to a good cause.” By Emily Morris <emorris@hilite.org>
