New vaccines required for 2010-2011 school year

Three new vaccines are required by the Indiana State Department of Health for the incoming school year, according to school nurse Carol Gelatt.

“By the first day of school, the school nurses need to have some new vaccination records for our students. The new vaccinations required for students are the Tdap (a new form of tetnis shot), meningococcal vaccine, a history of the chicken pox disease, or two doses of the chicken pox vaccine.”

Freshman Tim Haskins said, “They want people to not get sick but the only sickness I’ve ever gotten is a cold, so I have nothing to be worried about.” By Matt Barnthouse <mbarnthouse@hilite.org>
