Baseball players continue to train despite weather

Although the weather prevented team workouts last week, some varsity baseball team members used the techniques taught by student athletic trainers to train by themselves.

“I’ve been on the baseball team since my freshman year; and the trainers have taught me so much more about not only working my muscles, but doing it the healthy way,” Andrew Albers, baseball player and senior, said. “I thought that I knew how to get the most out of my time spent in my home gym, but now I’m able to use the training tips and techniques that I learned from other students.”
Albers is not the only member of the team to have the opportunity to work out at his home. According to Albers, every player can do the same exercises with none of the fancy equipment the school provides.

Athletics trainer sponsor Dawn Robertson said, “As soon as students start to work out with the assistance of student athletic trainers, they tend to learn more about the proper way to exercise without injuring themselves.

While most students enjoyed their three days off from school due to weather, Albers spent his time working on his upper body strength.
“I’m so lucky to be able to work out at my own house,” Albers said. “I can’t imagine not having the chance to keep my body in shape.” By Hope Boyer <[email protected]>
