The CHS media center is currently dealing with water damage as a result of melting ice. As a result the media center will be closed during SRT on Feb. 14, according to media department chairperson Bonnie Grimble.

“I heard water dripping and running at a very fast pace and I turned to my right and saw (ceiling) tiles were on the floor in a powdery mess,” she said.

Tiles fell in Pods 3, 9, and 11, so plastic coverings have been placed to prevent further damage, and the areas have been blocked off. An area by the main entrance has also been confined.

According to Grimble, there is currently no damage to books or equipment, so classes will still be accepted.

“Our labs are up and running but we have locked off all lower levels,” she said. Grimble also said that they library staff is not sure if there will be further damage, but they are keeping an eye on several areas. “Hopefully we can come back full tomorrow,” she said.

Fortunately, there have been no serious problems. According to Grimble, the only real problem she has faced all day is that, “I forgot my umbrella.” By Andy Yang and Ryan Zukerman <[email protected], [email protected]>
