Two CHS wrestlers, sophomores Ben Krege and Karl Wilhelm, qualified for the IHSAA Semistate by placing fourth and third, respectively, in the IHSAA Regional.
Krege said he is excited for the Semistate, where he said he will face some of the top competition in the state.
“(I’ve been) watching video, keeping my weight down, working after practice, and scouting,” Krege said.
Head Coach John Kopnisky said that while this team is younger than previous teams, Krege and Wilhelm are an example of the heart that the team shows.
“Our team has a tremendous amount of heart,” Kopnisky said. “Regardless of the competition they are always willing to put their best foot forward and strive for victory.”
The IHSAA Semistate will take place in New-Castle on Feb. 11, with the top 2 wrestlers from each Semistate advancing to the State Final.
