Carmel Dads’ Club spring registration ends Feb. 29

Carmel Dads’ Club (CDC) spring registration ends Feb. 29. According to CDC president Jack Beery, CDC sports have seen increased registration this year, although the growth has remained steady and slow for the past few years. Beery attributes this somewhat lethargic rate of growth to the decreased growth in CCS. Beery said the amount of young kids in CCS, who are the primary participants in CDC sports, has been growing less and less rapidly. The total number of participants in 2011 was around 11,500 students. Beery also said, however, that there has been an increase in growth in high school sports, such as co-ed soccer and basketball.

Beery said, “The high school kids really seem to like our programming, especially in the basketball and the co-ed soccer [areas].”

The number of CDC high school basketball players rose from 2350 in 2010 to 2410 in 2011. The growth has been such that Beery is now trying to add touch football to the list of CDC’s high school sports.
