On Feb. 7 at 10:15 a.m., Carmel High School will participate in the Great Central U.S. ShakeOut, a region-wide earthquake drill. The drill will utilize the internationally-recognized protocol to “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” in order to teach proper safety in the case of an earthquake. According to shakeout.org, the Great Central U.S. ShakeOut website, the protocol consists of dropping to the ground, taking cover by getting under a sturdy desk or table, and holding on to it until the shaking stops. It also notes that one should cover his face and arms in a corner if there is no table or desk nearby. Afterwards, B2 classes will be led outside to fire drill locations.
