Senate has jumpstarted a number of events recently, including Brain Game, March Madness, Cafeteria Appreciation Week and Counselor Appreciation Week.

According to Senate sponsor Michelle Foutz, Brain Game, like previous years, will involve SRTs competing against each other in trivia with single-round elimination. Each round will include 20 questions along with three tiebreakers.

“There are a lot of conflicts during SRT, so we still have to figure out the schedule,” Foutz said. According to Senator and senior Alex Chong, Senate will also be hosting its second March Madness competition from March 12 until spring break. The competition will involve three different contests: Lucky Draw, Trivia Challenge, and Bracket Challenge, each of which will be optional. The SRT with the most points overall will win a pizza party. According to Chong, there will also be an individual contest between students. Its winner will receive a $50 Visa Giftcard.

Senate will also host Cafeteria Appreciation Week and Counselor Appreciation Week until March 9, Chong said. Senators placed banners around the school in celebration and will also host meals. On Thursday during SRT, a meal will be hosted for cafeteria workers while breakfast will be provided for the counselors Friday morning.

“They do so much behind-the-scenes work to help the run the school,” Chong said. “It’s a great way to show how thankful we are.”
