Aquatics center busy with swim lessons, triathlon training

The aquatics center now offers swim lessons after school on Mondays and Wednesdays and at night on Tuesdays and Thursdays, according to aquatics center director Kinsey Wallace.

“We’ve added lessons because it’s our busiest time,” she said.

The center is also preparing to host training sessions for the triathlon in April. Wallace said for the remainder of March, there will be triathlon clinics on Sundays.

“Anyone in the community can sign up, and I encourage it,” Wallace said.

Lifeguard and senior Carolyn Smith added that while the high school competitive swim season is over, the swim club remains active. She said the swim club season will end in a few weeks, but after spring break the long course season will commence.

“Swim lessons are always in demand this time of year, and on top of that we have triathlon clinics, so I’d say this is the busiest season,” Wallace said.
