Pinnacle implements changes for the new school year

According Pinnacle adviser Nicole Wilson, the staff has changed the yearbook’s design for the 2012 issue. Joie Li, Pinnacle reporter and sophomore, also said that their coverage methods have changed this year.

“They’ve gone to a very free form of design,” Wilson said, “(and this) has allowed a lot more flexibility and versatility.”

She said that every year is the same, yet different, and always poses a new challenge.

Li said that Pinnacle started doing beats to cover different subjects within CHS. They are now in red, blue, and green teams that rotate every three weeks with different deadlines. This new format is similar to that of Hilite’s.

“Pinnacle is important because Carmel is a school steeped in tradition, and the culture here is community-oriented and very school spirited. I think that the yearbook is the embodiment of that. All you have to do is look at the yearbook distribution line in May when the book is finished to see how much the students care about the work we’re doing here. The line often goes down the senior hallway and all the way to industrial tech.”

She added that the value that the yearbook has at Carmel High School is irreplaceable.

The yearbook is always looking to improve, even after it earned the 2008 Gold Crown award named 2009 Hoosier Star finalist.

“Our motto this year is, ‘Teamwork makes the dream work,’” Li said via email. “(It)really shows in our new plans to make this year’s book even better than before.”
