Lifelines has scheduled work sessions for its next few Blue Wednesday meetings in the community room at 7:05 a.m. Members will prepare ribbons, finish posters and finalize events for the upcoming Red Ribbon Week, according to Nina Sun, vice president and senior.

“This time around, I hope to really make a difference for the students and the school,” Sun said. “Not only do I want them to realize what we’re doing, but I want them to realize the things they are doing also.”

Sun said last week Eric Cui and Elizabeth Huang, Lifelines officers and seniors, met with sponsor Rebekah Overbey and decided on the guest speaker for the junior and senior class for Red Ribbon Week. More information about that will be released by the end of October, according to Overbey.

“I want to encourage students to continue making good choices for themselves, not texting and driving, not talking on their phones while they’re driving,” Overbey said. “Even though that is illegal, they still do it; people still do it, but it’s not safe. So getting that word out, making sure you wear your seatbelts, and of course, don’t drink and drive, don’t do drugs, just for students to really think about the choices they make and how they affect not only themselves, but others too.”
