Jean Norwalk, integrated physics/chemistry teacher, started teaching at CHS on Oct. 15, according to science department chairperson Jennifer Marlow.

Norwalk replaced Dave Dowell, former integrated physics/chemistry teacher, because he was a long-term substitute due to a resignation at the beginning of the school year. According to Marlow, Norwalk has previous experience teaching and will do well adjusting to CHS.

Marlow said science clubs, such as Club Med, Chemistry Club, Physics Club, Green Team and Thirst Project, are going well.

According to Marlow, Science Olympiad has new sponsors Drew Grimes, physical geology and AP Environmental Science teacher, and Cynthia Henry, integrated physics/chemistry and Chemistry I teacher. Grimes and Henry plan to go to trainings throughout the state to understand the Science Olympiad process.

Anuhya Yedanaparthi, Club Med member and sophomore, said Club Med has two hospital volunteer opportunities, and the members also plan to dissect frog legs. Yedanaparthi said she is also interested in joining other science clubs such as the Biology Club.

“Science is more based on learning,” Yedanaparthi said. “It’s not as challenging as math, but you need to memorize a lot.”
