While the junior varsity and varsity teams haven’t been determined, the men who will make up this years men’s team have already been chosen from last weeks tryout. Players and coaches have already been hard at work and said they look toward the upcoming season.
Brandon Wojcik, power forward and junior, said he was focused at tryouts and will go up from there. Wojcik played for the team last year and was chosen for a team this year as well.
Wojcik has 10 years of basketball experience and said he plays for the love of the game along with his love for competition.
“The JV and varsity teams haven’t been chosen yet, but I am just happy to have made a team,” Wojcik said.
“We are waiting for all the fall sports to wrap up before we finalize our team,” Head Coach Mark Galloway said.
As far as goals go Wojcik and Galloway are the same. “Obviously (one goal is) for the team to get to the State championship, but we have to go one game at a time. Winning the Sectional is a good start,” Wojcik said.
Galloway said the team should strive to be playing the best basketball by March and he wants to get the team in shape to make a good tournament run. “We really strive to win our conference,” he said.
The varsity team’s season is fast approaching with the opening game on Wednesday against Brownsburg. That game is followed by the home opener against North Montgomery on Nov. 24.
“It’s good to be back on the court,” Wojcik said, “Both JV and varsity are ready to play.”
