The transportation department advises students to take precautions when traveling in the winter, according to Ron Farrand, director of facilities and transportation. With roads being slippery, Farrand said he suggests student drivers take the bus for the winter and students who already ride the bus should arrive at the bus stop earlier in order to avoid slipping on ice when running to catch the bus.

“(Students) should ride the bus,” Farrand said. “It’s the safest form of transportation to school.”

Sophomore Rob Holden said that while he does have concerns about winter weather, he chooses to drive to school because he has swim practice every day after school.

“If the weather was really bad, I would take the bus,” Holden said. “The only bad part is sometimes going down the trail when the speed bumps are icy.”
