HiLite staff wins Quill & Scroll Gold Keys

HiLite staff members earned 12 Gold Keys in the 2013 Quill & Scroll International Writing/Photo Contest, which is co-sponsored by the American Society of News Editors’ High School Journalism Initiative. The contest attracted a total of 2,436 entries submitted to 14 divisions, with a total of 270 entries selected as National Winners and 342 individual student winners.

Individual winners were as follows:

Junior David Choe won a Gold Key in Editorial Cartoons.Junior Linsu Han won a Gold Key in News Writing.
Freshman Kyle Crawford won 2 Gold Keys in Sports Photography.
Sophomore Kyle Walker won a Gold Key in Feature Writing.
Sophomore Pablo Paliza-Carre won a Gold Key in Review Columns.
Sophomore Naomi Reibold won a Gold Key in In-Depth/Individual Reporting.
Junior Claudia Huang won a Gold Key in In-Depth/Individual Reporting.
Sophomore Rushi Patel won a Gold Key in In-Depth/Individual Reporting.
Junior Omeed Malek won a Gold Key in Photo Illustrations.
Senior Liane Yue won a Gold Key in Infographics.
Junior Connie Chu won a Gold Key in Infographics.

The adviser of the HiLite is Jim Streisel. Victor Xu is the editor in chief. Tony Tan, Natalie Maier, Melinda Song and Ryan Zukerman are managing editors.
