The wheels are turning as the softball team gets its season started. Team tryouts were held last week week, and the coaches selected the team that they think will help them win another state championship.

Head Coach Emily Good refused to comment before the teams were selected. Tryouts lasted from the Sep. 9-13.

Senior Erika Petruzzi, who is commited to play at Purdue next season, said she is confident in the team’s ability this season. ” I feel that we have the best talent from all four grades since I have been in high school. We have a lot of potential this season,” Petruzzi said.

Petruzzi said that she feels her role on the team this year is to be the leader. ” Though I have already signed, we, as a team, have a lot of unfinished business to do,” Petruzzi said. ” My role is to be a leader this year and make sure that our team plays to the best of our potential.”

Petruzzi said she also thinks the team has a great chance at success this season. “I feel that our team has an expectation to be able to win the MIC and has the potential to win state,” she said, ” We need to take it one game at a time and hopefully that will allow us to achieve all our goals.”
