Muslim Student Association to host Eid party Oct. 4, plans more events for first semester

Members of Muslim Student Association (MSA) plan to collaborate with members of the Indian Student Alliance for an Eid al-Adha party after school on Friday, October 4. According to Parmida Mostafavi, club president and senior, the MSA information and planning meeting for this event will be after school on Thursday, October 3.

Mostafavi and Nida Khan, club vice president and junior, have more events planned for the year.

Parmida Mostafavi, club president and senior, and Asra Hussain, club member and sophomore, play an icebreaker game at the Muslim Student Association call out meeting on September 12. Members of the club meet every Thursday in Room E242 and expect to plan many events this semester that Mostafavi said she hopes will be more organized than those of the last school year.

“I’d like to make sure the club is more organized; instead of us just hanging out, Nida and I have planned out all the first semester meetings,” Mostafavi said.

She also said that members of the club will organize a fundraiser for Syria sometime this semester, but have not yet worked out dates and details.

Members of the club will continue to meet every Thursday after school.

David James, club sponsor and science teacher, said, “I am excited to learn about their culture and their religion. It was also great getting to try some food from other cultures.” By Alex Yu
