According to sponsor Keith Turner, Astronomy Club will have a meeting on Sept. 30 after school from 3:15 to 3:35 p.m. in the planetarium.

Turner said, at the meeting, he will teach students how to use and set up telescopes. The students who show up to be trained will be given the opportunity to set the telescopes up at the planetarium show on Oct. 12.

Turner said, “It will give students a good understanding of what a telescope can do, and it’s pretty cool to be able to get the telescope to line up and look at the night sky.”

Yanying Chen, club president and senior, said she is excited for the meeting and hopes new members will learn a lot more about telescopes than before.

“If you give people a tripod and telescope body, most people don’t know how to set up that up,” Chen said. “Hopefully, everyone will be learning a bit more about telescopes and be able to work at the show next month.  I really enjoy the shows and seeing how everything works. Please come check us out.”
