Amnesty puts on a new twist, plans for benefit concert

By: Maddi Bourgerie <[email protected]>

Amnesty International kicks off 2008 with new ideas. The next meeting is Monday, Feb. 4 in Room E221. Amnesty will continue discussing ideas for the club’s new event.

Amnesty International, along with The Healthy Environment Club, is trying to plan and put on a benefit concert.

“We are at the very beginning stages of the planning for our new event called Night of Rights,” sophomore co-president Rosemary Boeglin said. “We have not decided on any of the details such as where or when yet. All details will continue being discussed in the next Feb. 4 meeting.”
The concert will consist of different bands for the club members to enjoy. “We have also talked about bringing in a speaker to discuss climate change and global warming,” Boeglin said.

“It’s a new semester and also a new year, and Amnesty International will continuing discussing concerns about human rights issues,” club sponsor Amanda Holman said. “Letters will also still be written with the members’ different opinions on the topics they choose.”
New topics and new discussions are ahead for the human rights activists in Amnesty International.
