Football team to play McCutcheon in Sectional Oct. 22

On Friday, Oct. 22, the football team will begin their attempt to make it to the state championship five straight years. They will begin with the Sectional, which they kick off against McCutcheon.

The game will take place at 7 p.m. at Carmel Stadium.

The Greyhounds finished their regular season with a record of 8-1, with their only loss coming against Warren Central. McCutcheon has a record of 1-8 on the season.

Although there is a noticeable difference in the two teams’ records, Head Coach Kevin Wright said he expects his team to come out and give their best effort.

“I think it goes back to attitude and just playing your best regardless of the opponent,” Wright said. “Our players know that we are not good enough to just show up and beat anybody.”

Justin Todd, linebacker and safety, said that the team understands that every game is important from this point on.

“We are not going to take anyone for granted,” Todd said. “Because we all know that there is a possibility that every game from now on might be our last one of the season.”

The Greyhounds are looking to advance to the state championship game for the fifth time in five years. If they accomplish this, they will be the first team ever to make it to the game five years in a row. By Charlie Browning <[email protected]>
