College football imaginary fun

Just for fun, let’s make a fake college football playoff. If there were an 8 team college football playoff, the matchups (based on the current BCS standings) would be as follows:

8. Stanford at 1. Notre Dame

7. LSU at 2. Alabama

6. Kansas State at 3. Georgia

5. Oregon at 4. Florida

Now that we have some hypothetical matchups, why not keep going? If this happened, I predict that the four winners would be Notre Dame, Alabama, Georgia, and Oregon. Let’s say those teams all went to play in a neutral site for the Final Four. The matchups would be:

Oregon v. Notre Dame

Alabama v. Georgia

That would be fun. Oregon’s high-flying offense against Manti Te’o and the stout Irish defense, followed by a smashmouth SEC rematch between Alabama and Georgia. Of course, none of this will ever happen, but it’s still fun to pretend. I think Oregon and Alabama would win, setting up the national championship that everyone thought they would see at the beginning of this season, with Alabama winning 23-20. It’s just too bad none of this would ever happen. Thank you, BCS.
