The media center is currently advertising “Mockingjay,” according to media department chairperson Terri Ramos.

“Right now, we are publicizing the movie that is coming out, that’s a tie-in for one of our novels, the third in the Hunger Games series, that comes out November 21, Mockingjay. We have a relationship with the theater, so they send us posters and all those kinds of things. We’re not doing a contest as we have in the past, just kind of advertising the fact that that is coming out,” Ramos said.

Media aide and sophomore Hannah Stigter, who has read Mockingjay, said she has mixed feelings on how she thinks the movie will turn out.

“I’m somewhat looking forward to the movie coming out,” Stigter said. “It could either go really good or really bad, because of the way the book was laid out, and if they’re trying to keep it close to the book, the end will just go terribly.”

There will also be a holiday staff appreciation event in the workroom.

Ramos said, “We have a staff event coming up at the end of this week, that is kind of like a holiday kick-off for them; that will happen in out workroom. They get a 20 percent discount on some books that they can purchase, holiday treats, that kind of stuff. So that’s a little staff appreciation that we do for the holidays.”

Additionally, the media center has purchased new books that will steadily be released up until winter break.

“We do have new books—we’ve got a lot of new books—that we just bought, and I just bought some more, so they’re going to be steadily coming out up to the holidays,” Ramos said. “So if you’re looking for something good to read, know is the time to come in and see all the new material in addition to what we already have.”
