Sophomore Claire Elliott talks to her friend and fellow sophomore Anita Sayar in the hallway outside their AP European History class. Elliott, one of chemistry teacher Timothy Mylin’s students, said she will miss Mylin’s class second semester because he was nice and helpful.

According to science department chairperson Jennifer Marlow, chemistry teacher Timothy Mylin’s regular classes will go to a new teacher, Scott Seymour, after Mylin has retired. However, the honors classes will go to chemistry teachers Sandy Weisner and Cynthia Henry. Seymour will also take Weisner and Henry’s regular chemistry classes.

“Mrs. Weisner and Mrs. Henry’s regular chemistry classes—it all worked out that those class periods could move to Mr. Seymour and Mr. Mylin’s class periods could move to them. So for instance, if you were a period 3B for Mr. Mylin, for the most part your entire class will stay together and go to either Mrs. Weisner or Mrs. Henry,” Marlow said.

Sophomore Claire Elliott said she found out about Mylin’s retirement a few months ago from her tutor.

“I didn’t really know how to feel (about his retirement) because his class is really hard, but he’s really nice and really helpful. I mean I think it’ll be maybe easier next semester, but I’ll probably miss his class,” she said.

Elliott said she already received her next semester schedule, and her new teacher will be Weisner. She said she hopes Weisner will be more guided as she teaches the material.

Additionally, according to Marlow, the next science department meeting will be after school Jan. 13 in Room B211.
