CHS Angels Club plans new

By: Meagan McNulty <[email protected]>

This month, the CHS Angels Club plans to prepare a new activity to benefit Chaucie’s Place. Kati Feller, CHS Angels Club co-president and sophomore, said that the club will team up with the Builders Club, a community service group at St. Louis de Montfort in Fishers, to make Build-a-Bears for children at Chaucie’s Place.

In addition to the bears, Feller said she hopes the CHS Angels Club can construct felt blankets to be wrapped around the bears when they are donated. Feller said, “(The children at the center) are already going through a traumatic time. The just need something to comfort them.”

By teaming up with the Builders Club, the clubs can combine their funds to purchase Build-a-Bears and materials to make the blankets.

The Builders Club gained funds earlier this year by selling “Santa Letters” to be sent to children in Kindergarten through second grade. For this activity, members of the Builders Club wrote to the younger children, pretending to be Santa Claus. Feller said she hopes to propose this same idea to the CHS Angels Club next holiday season for the elementary schools in the Carmel District.

Since every child who enters the center receives a Build-a-Bear, Feller said she hopes the activity will benefit the center and provide comfort to the children. Feller said the children need “faith and hope in a time when their world is crumbling around them.”
