The Planetarium Club’s first event is planned for Sept. 17. Although the club has not yet held a callout meeting, several astronomy students said they are interested in helping with the show. Keith Turner, Planetarium Club sponsor and science teacher, said in the past most club members were in his astronomy classes. However, he also said any student interested in learning how to use the Planetarium equipment is welcome, grade level aside.

Students in his astronomy classes can learn to use the star machine and choose not to join the club. Turner said, “Everybody’s so busy, and I find people sign up for clubs but then they may only go to one meeting or two meetings, so I told (my students) if you just want to learn to run the star machine, that’s fine.”

Dalton Puller, senior, said he is unsure whether or not he will join the Planetarium Club. “I just want to learn how to use the star machine right now,” Puller said.
