Hip Hop Club meets every week to practice their dance routines. The club has been billed as a place for those who value self-expression.
Jane Yu, Hip Hop Club president and junior, encouraged all students to attend the meetings. “We gather, put on music, dance independently, (and) sometimes cypher,” Yu said. “We are still discovering ourselves, (and) self-expression is one of the ways in which we can shape and influence our identity.” The club’s meetings take place weekly in the commons area from 3:15 p.m. until 4 p.m. “(The meetings) promote a healthy way of expressing oneself and inspiring others.” The club has continued the planning of its annual charitable ND Battle, which will take place in late April.
Allison Hargrove, Hip Hop Club sponsor, noted the importance of the club to CHS. “It allows students to connect with others through their love of music,” Hargrove said. “It’s very low-key, relaxed, and a great way to relieve some stress in a social environment.”
