Symphony orchestra member Eliza Haddon packs up at the end of orchestra class. Haddon said she enjoys the music her class is performing for ISSMA and is looking forward to contest day.

According to Maggie Hite, one of the three orchestra directors, all orchestras are currently in the process of getting ready for the annual ISSMA competition on April 22.

“We just had a very successful ISSMA Jazz competition with Festival orchestra,” Hite said. She also said that students are progressing quickly as they prepare for the upcoming ISSMA contest.

“The students learn things very quickly,” Hite said. “We’re in pretty good shape for ISSMA.”

Eliza Haddon, Symphony orchestra member and sophomore, said she looks forward to the various events happening this month, as well as time to focus on individual pieces during class.

“We usually do pretty well at ISSMA, so I’m not too nervous about it” Haddon said.
