President and senior Alexis O’Brien passes around plates to French Club members as she tells them about future events. She said she hopes to find a suitable event for members by the meeting on Nov. 2.

After two months of traveling to places to learn French culture, French Club will rest from trips until Nov. 2 when they will begin to plan out other events. Club sponsor Lisa Carroll said during meetings the officers will present possible activities to attend which officers are currently researching for. Movies, food, and essentially anything related to French culture and fun follows.

Through past trips, members said they were better able to understand French culture. Member and senior Joshua Fogel and French Club members went to Mudbugs Cajun Cafe last Thursday.

Fogel said, “The food at Mudbugs actually gives a general idea of French culture. There is a large range of foods, for example many styles of European variety and influence in Quebec, and Mudbugs gives an interesting look into the Cajun side of the French food world.”

On Oct. 21, French Club visited Bloomington alongside AP French students. Carroll said, “(French Club members) took a bus down to I.U. and looked around the campus and the international dorms, so we were kind of promoting that. Then they went to a French restaurant somewhere in Bloomington and a French opera.”

“So the opera was actually in French, and the AP students read the opera in class, and they did some activities with it to understand it better. And they actually got to go see it, so seeing it played out on stage was pretty cool,” she said.
