Junior Kyle Zheng cuts out cardboard during a Science Olympiad meeting. Zheng said he didn’t want earlier school start times.
According to school board president Layla Spanenberg, the school board will have an executive session on Feb. 6 and a workshop on Feb. 12. The board’s regular session meeting will be on Feb. 26.
Executive session meetings are not open to the public; however, the workshop and regular session meetings will be. Spanenberg said the executive would involve professional development. At the workshop meeting, Spanenberg said the board would discuss later elementary school start times.
“(Having earlier start times) could have a ripple effect across the district,” she said. If elementary schools implemented a later start time, the middle schools and CHS would most likely follow suit.
Junior Kyle Zheng said, “I think (school start times) should stay the same. I have suffered during my time at school and I want the youngsters to suffer as much as I have.”
According to Spanenberg, the results of last semester’s district thought exchange regarding elementary schools and technology integration are now available online.
