Model U.N. to have call-out meeting soon

After a period of uncertainty regarding the event’s continuation, Model U.N. sponsor Tracy Hadden said she had received confirmation that IUPUI, the facility in which the annual conferences are held, will continue hosting. Hadden said she hoped to announce the call-out meeting as soon as possible.

“My contact from IUPUI emailed me on Wednesday and they have found a student to put in charge of the conference,” Hadden said. “My contact in IUPUI appointed Corrie Walters, who is very experienced in Model U.N., to be the event’s new director.”

According to Hadden’s source, Walters has begun making initial arrangements for the 2010 conference, scheduled for March 18 from 5- 10 p.m and March 19 from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hadden’s contact said the times were proficient last year and should work this year.

“I will probably have a call-out in a week, a couple of weeks – as soon as I hear from Corrie Walters, who should give us registration information,” Hadden said. In previous years, the 100 sophomores, juniors and seniors who participated filled out applications and codes of conduct to join the team

“I really want to win Best Delegate this year,” Michael Wang, previous member and junior, said. “One of my greatest passions is public speaking, and I enjoy bringing forth ideas and seeing them go through legislative processes.” By Victor Xu <[email protected]>
