Women’s cross country team to compete at Regional tournament Oct. 17

Still battling a strain of illness, the women’s cross country team will compete at the Regional tournament at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School at 11 a.m. on Oct. 17.

Head Coach Mark Ellington said, “Currently the biggest obstacle is health. We have had our share of illness run through our team in the past two weeks, and we are fighting any recurrence of that illness. Once we have everyone back to full strength, we are focusing on dropping our times and closing some gaps in our lineup.”

Despite the illnesses slowing the team down, the runners are optimistic about their chances going into Regionals and making it to the State meet down the road.

Varsity runner and junior Alex Chitwood said, “I think we’ll be fine after we get over all of the people being sick for races. We’re still pretty hopeful about making it to State.” By Maggie Brandenburg <[email protected]>
