TechHOUNDS will have meetings every day after school from 3:15 to 6:30 p.m. in the engineering hallway classrooms. Derek Fronek, Robotics Design Lead and senior, said that not only has the team’s robot design nearly been finalized, but also the assembly of the robot will begin soon.
“We had a design lock, and we’re working through some challenges. We’re able to start producing elements for the robot, and we’re beginning to, since we have finalized designs, have manufacturers who have offered to produce some of our parts for us because we can’t necessarily do everything in house,” Fronek said.
Zachary Bonewit, head coach of TechHOUNDS and engineering teacher, said the challenges of designing the robot have shifted how the team approaches building and construction.
“We do try to keep a narrow focus that once we’ve set a strategy, we try to keep that strategy and develop the way we play, but sometimes you find that you might have to change the strategy because maybe mechanism design isn’t feasible.” Bonewit said. By James Yin
